On Monday morning, as 2024 was being celebrated across the United States, Callaway’s newest drivers were being added to the United States Golf Association’s List of Conforming Driver Heads.

This would suggest that Callaway’s drivers have been thoroughly tested by the USGA to ensure that they meet all equipment standards and comply with the Rules of Golf. Once a driver head is added to this list, it can be used by any golfer in a competitive round or official event, like the upcoming PGA Tour event, The Sentry at the Kapalua Resort in Hawaii.

The official announcement from Callaway about the Paradym Ai Smoke drivers has not been made yet. However, there are already 11 versions of the Paradym A.I. Smoke drivers on the list, suggesting that some of them might be exclusive to tour professionals.

We don’t have any details about each of the models, but we can guess what they are going to look like based on the photos displayed on the USGA’s website and Callaway’s past technologies.

Forged Carbon

Callaway has been known for incorporating carbon fiber technology in their drivers, using carbon fiber crowns and sole panels in their designs.

In their previous release, the 2023 Paradym drivers, Callaway included a 360-degree forged carbon chassis that fully wrapped the material around the center of the head.

It could be possible that the Paradym Ai Smoke drivers will inclde a similar designs and elements, with a focus on using forged carbon technology.

Ai Smart Face

Although it can’t be seen in the USGA photos, the description of each club mentions the words “Ai Smart Face” on the face of the driver.

Previously, Callaway’s putter arm, Odyssey, released the Ai ONE and Ai ONE Milled putters, incorporating artificial intelligence into their design.

Knowing that Callaway has used AI driver face technology in the past, it could be possible that the Paradym Ai Smoke drivers will have a new or updated face that leverages artificial intelligence.

Triple Diamond = Low Spin

Over the years, Callaway has designated their low-spin drivers with the term “Sub-Zero.” However, they have now moved on to using three diamonds or the Triple Diamond designation to indicate drivers made for fast-swinging, elite golfers.

Included drivers are the Triple Diamond, Triple Diamond +, Triple Diamond S, and Triple Diamond Max. Most of these drivers feature a two-weight system with moveable weights that allow players and fitters to fine-tune the spin rate and launch angle by swapping heavy and lightweight weights in the ports.

Max = Standard

None of the Paradym Ai Smoke drivers are simply labeled “Paradym Ai Smoke.” Instead, each offering on the USGA list is accompanied by an additional name.

There is nothing wrong with assuming that “Max” represents the base model. The Max driver includes a sliding weight at the back, enabling players and fitters to adjust the driver’s bias towards a draw or a fade.

The weight at the front of the sole has a unique shape, indicating it is not swappable with the weight in the track. This weight likely assists fitters in adjusting the club’s swing weight.

Max D = Draw

The Max D driver lacks the sliding weight found in the Max model. However, the addition of a “D” in the club’s name indicates that it is designed with a draw bias. This particular driver is likely intended to help golfers who struggle with slices achieve a more desirable ball flight.

Max Fast

If the standard Max model serves as the base option and the Max D provides a draw bias for slicers, the Max Fast is tailored towards slow swinging players.

The USGA has stated that this driver is available in 9.5, 10.5, 11.5, and 12-degree loft options. Higher lofts like these are not practical for faster-swinging golfers, but they can benefit players who struggle to generate clubhead speed.

These high-lofted drivers can maximize carry distance. Similar to other Paradym Ai Smoke drivers, the Max Fast features an adjustable hosel. If it follows Callaway’s previous hosel systems, golfers can increase the loft by up to 2 degrees, allowing a 12-degree head to play with a loft of up to 14 degrees.
