Exclusive Collaboration: Toulon Golf and Jimmy Carbonetti’s Special Edition Putters

If you’re a golf-loving guitarist or a guitar-loving golfer, then Toulon Golf has the perfect putter for you. Renowned guitar luthier, Jimmy Carbonetti, has once again partnered with Toulon Golf to create a special limited-release putter to honor the legendary Augusta National architect, Dr. Alister MacKenzie. This collaboration comes just in time for the Masters, the most prestigious golf tournament of the year.

The Unique Collaboration

Jimmy Carbonetti, known for crafting instruments for world-famous bands like Guns ‘N Roses, Bush, and the Black Keys, has previously collaborated with Toulon Golf on two exclusive putters. It all started when Carbonetti was introduced to Toulon Golf co-founder, Tony Toulon, through a mutual friend who knew about their shared interests in both golf and music.

“Jimmy, you know, you got to meet my buddy, Tony,” Carbonetti recalled. “He plays guitar, and he’s into golf.”

Working from his shop in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Carbonetti meticulously crafts the sole plates for these unique putter collaborations. Despite the contrasting nature of guitars and putters, Carbonetti believes that the process of creating them is remarkably similar. Both instruments require a balance of artistic design and functionality to cater to the needs of professionals who are at the top of their game.

The Toulon Carbonetti Meadow Club Putters

The limited-edition Toulon Carbonetti Meadow Club putter is truly a work of functional art. Its design pays homage to the Meadow Club, located just north of San Francisco, which was Dr. Alistar MacKenzie’s first U.S. design of Augusta National and Cypress Point. The head of this putter, expertly designed by Tony Toulon and his father Sean, emulates the mallet-style putters favored by Dr. MacKenzie. It is crafted from 904L Stainless Steel, the same grade commonly used for Rolex casings, and finished with a stunning black PVD coating that resembles a sleek black piano.

A Story of Environmental Preservation

What sets the Toulon Carbonetti Meadow Club putter apart is the unique wood used for its sole plate. Toulon Golf and Carbonetti worked closely with the Meadow Club to acquire a fallen madrone tree, known for its rarity and beauty, which previously stood near the fourth tee. The removal of this environmental hazard provided an opportunity to breathe new life into its timber, utilizing it to create the sole plates for the limited run of putters and two matching guitars.

“It’s all about the story,” Carbonetti explained. “Anyone can make an instrument or a putter, but it’s the story and the meaning behind it that truly captivate. We wanted to create something that goes beyond the visual appeal and resonates with golfers and musicians alike.”
